Mandatory UAE Unemployment Insurance Scheme: 10 Conditions for claiming compensation
The United Arab Emirates recently implemented a mandatory UAE unemployment insurance scheme to support its workforce in the event they lose their jobs. However, to be eligible for the cash benefits provided by this policy, it is crucial to meet the 10 conditions outlined in both Article 5 of the Federal Decree-Law No. 13 of 2022 and Article 9 of Cabinet Resolution No. 97 of 2022.

- The minimum subscription period for the insured in the scheme is 12 consecutive months.
- Subscription must not be interrupted for a consecutive period of 3 months.
- The insured requires to pay all insurance premiums on time.
- The insured must provide evidence that their unemployment is not due to resignation.
- Claims must be submitted within 30 days from the date of loss of the working relationship or the settlement of the labor complaint referred to the judiciary.
- The injured worker must not have an existing complaint related to absence from work.
- Compensation will not be provided if there is evidence of fraud or deceit in the claim. Or if the establishment where the insured works are fictitious.
- The loss of employment must not be a result of non-peaceful labor strikes or stoppages. Regardless of whether they result in harm or not.
- The insured must be legally present in the UAE.
- The insured must not have been dismissed for disciplinary reasons under the Labour Relations Law and the Human Resources Law of the federal government, as well as any other applicable legislation.
How to get unemployment insurance in UAE?
To get unemployment insurance in the United Arab Emirates, workers need to apply through the ILOE Insurance Pool website or its app. Or through other channels announced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization.
